About Me
I am a mother of three and teacher. I have a Bachelor’s degree in education and 13 years experience teaching children ages 2 through second grade. I taught preschool - 2nd grade at Hite Elementary in Middletown for 6 years. I am currently taking graduate classes toward earning an IECE (interdisciplinary early childhood education) certification through a grant at the University of Kentucky. Most recently, I have worked for First Steps, a state program for children under 3 with developmental delays. I have experience working with children with sensory processing difficulties along with cognitive and language delays. Working with preschool children is my passion and where I find the most joy in my career as a teacher.
The class is in my Middletown home & will have a maximum of six children, which allows your child to receive LOTS of one on one attention. I provide a loving, fun place where kids learn through play.
Our daily routine will consist of:
• learning centers
• circle time
• story time
• Bible stories
• Gross fine motor skills
• arts and crafts
• music/movement
Letters, numbers, colors, shapes will be introduced. We will develop pre-reading, writing and math skills, according to each child’s developmental readiness. Each month we will have several themes which all activities will be based on. A few of our themes will be: All About Me, Fall on the Farm, seasons, holidays, Zoo Animals, plus many more. Along with cognitive and academic skills, the curriculum will incorporate principles designed to shape life skills such as play skills, turn-taking, sharing, manners, and Christian morals.
