Louisville Male High School proudly presents Kurt Vonnegut’s comedic satire Welcome to the Monkey House at Durrett Auditorium, 4409 Preston Highway, at 7 PM on February 28, 29, and March 1st.
Long ago, TIME magazine called Vonnegut . . . a zany but moral mad scientist at the controls of a literary time machine. He is George Orwell, Dr. Caligari and Flash Gordon compounded into one writer. Though Vonnegut is knocking a misplaced sense of values by showing the horrifying results, hes doing it with an irreverent chuckle. Though his short stories were published in 1968, his kooky, critical commentary still resonates today.

Within a theatre production gone haywire: star-crossed wallflowers reveal whom we might be beneath the mask of monotony; a futuristic dystopia crushes human originality; society is threatened by the euphiophone’s instant gratification; and a well-meaning band teacher shows us all how to find true inspiration. DISCLAIMER: While this play is meant to be funny and thought provoking for a high school audience, parent discretion is advised.
